it was a good weekend. now the working week has begun.
i will be playing shop-keeper for a week, which means there is an unbreakable schedule in the morning. i have to make it to 9:40 bus. today V stayed in the kindergarten crying and i just left. her big round tears look so sad and beautiful. well, here i am now, looking at her photos from the hair-game and from the birthday-party from yesterday. i could work too. but i don't need to rush. it's almost like christmas holiday already. but i have a project i should not forget: V's present wish is a brown doll that i would make. the sweetest wish ever. when i asked her what would she like to have from my brother+ his girlfriend (they asked), she said "i'll have think about it" (pitää miettiä).
i made a new advent calendar, simple style. today was the number that she knows. biggest successes so far: green-green striped underpants and crocheted sock-shoes from flea-market.

on the underpants day V was inspired to dress all in stripes: stripy undershirt, stripy shirt, stripy pantyhose, stripy pants and suddenly: polka-dot socks. i didn't take a photo (it was a kindergarten day), but we made some stripe drawings. there are also winter-worm and summer-spring-worm.

that hair-game looks familiar. i used to play that when i was a girl. which is the front and which is the back of my face?
i like the sound of all those stripes.
i taught art one day a week at a preschool for several years, until recently, and every morning one or two of the kids would sob pitifully when their mother or father left them. it's funny though-- usually as soon as mama or daddy was out of sight, the crying would trickle down to some sniffles, and then stop. they tended to perk up pretty quickly again. i've noticed the same when babysitting-- i haven't been able to figure out if the kids are just trying to show their parents how much they love/need them with the tears, and that's why they end so quickly when the parents leave, or if it's just that they have such short attention spans...it's so hard for the moms and dads, though. they always look like they are suffering so much, too!
i also used to play the hair game. and stripes are so excellent.
it is great that you found presents for her that inspires her. that is really the best. It was my ambition, too with our calendar.
Enjoy your cityweek with a schedule and all! I write you soon.
Mä harrastin tuota naamanpiilotusharjausta vielä yläasteellakin...tota...
Violet, kenen kanssa leikit? vai peilikuvan kanssako vaan... harjaaminen on mahtavaa.
thanks, Kaela. that's what they say... V doesn't usually cry when i leave her. and usually i have the time to make it nice. it's a bit heavy for her, this week. and it's only tuesday! maybe that's the reason kids get alarmed, if the parents look like they're suffering...
i'm doing my best to pass on my love of stripes. it's not hard at all.
today she got a strawberry pillow. she gave it to the bambi she got yesterday.
Hurmasin poikia. Ainakin yritin.
lovley advent calendar!!
