a fairy's house

Without anyone noticing a fairy moved in. She built her house next to the sofa. V has learned to tie knots and bows. She can tie her shoe laces too!

These guys are not going to a party as I thought, but they received a big prize.

The next thing Y made was a bed for us. Our futon mattress finally has a big enough bed under it.

Today is the due day, but I'm still here. I say "but", as I was so certain to go well before. There's more time to get worried about stuff if you have to wait. Maybe someone wants to give me a lesson in patience. It's not gonna work. I won't become patient. Ever.

still here

I have witnessed the very early golden morning light quite often in the past weeks. I used to have this dream vision of being a mother who sits in the kitchen when the daughter wakes up. (Usually she wakes me up.) So now I've had that. Oh I'm wishing to go so much! Thursday was not the day. But I had my first baby dream last night.

Y finished the sofa. He's a natural born furniture fixer too, among other things. I've never had a sofa before, feels very adult.

I have to add what I'm listening to: V singing "Ponyo Ponyo Ponyo sakana no ko..." We didn't see the new Hayao Miyazaki movie yet, but listened to the song yesterday.

Today is day 9. Without her.

projects, projects

There is the house and it's many spots that demand attention. Then there is a sofa. We are going to get one fine sofa. It is an old Artek sofa that K gave to us. Y is giving it a new lacquer and we got some very fine new fabric for it from Johanna Gullichsen. Spent a long time in that shop deciding the colour with Y. It was nice.

I made a little tutu for the ballet girl. On her third dance class she was like the other girls, wearing some pink tulle. I added some on the shoulder straps too. I thought she has been so brave and strong, being the only one with just an undershirt and shorts.

Then there are various knittings, planning curtains, fixing a big basket, checking and washing the baby stuff from the storage... I will stop working, hopefully today. Next week will be my nesting week, I'm ready to deliver on Thursday.

I'm quite happy these days: happy that the pregnancy time is ending soon, happy about my hair(!), new glasses!!, about receiving a big organic food order, about being a bit more patient as a mother, about autumn. About having a baby. About good people. About change.

But I'm very sad too. It is the 6th day now since our little cat has been missing. I can't bear the idea of never seeing her again.

Sleepless. It is 03:50 at night. Archipelago was a sign; yesterday I ordered new eye glasses for myself of a brand called that. Now, sleepless, I started to wonder. But they were quite exactly what I was looking for. If I were looking for a bicycle, another Pelago. Or if I had extra money. I'm quite good at getting rid of any extra money. Even a bit beforehand.

We went to Kiasma for the Pipilotti Rist exhibition. Her name makes this one song play in my head. "Wicked game". Once upon a time I was working at the museum of photography and there was a work by her where she's singing this song. And I never got annoyed by it, even though I heard it 6 hours per day! 5th floor was a dream world, but V got too wild there and we left a little bit too soon. It was very inviting to run around.

Our friend has spent all his summers in this place in the archipelago, He's around 50. The toes belong to his youngest, 9-year old daughter.

New products at Onni.

Difficult to choose photos from our island trip. Landscape photos are so boring! Lots of photos where somebody has a strange face. It was such a nice little weekend trip, quite exotic too, I haven't been to the archipelago too much. And it was summer for a little bit more.

Today I have eaten lemon cake at the bakery, cleaned one box, translated some pages, taken my cat to the vet, sewn one button hole, boiled buckwheat, started a letter, made 3 lists. They are: "What to bring to the hospital", "Food circle order" and "What needs to be done at our house".

V would like the little brother to be a prince rather than a pirate, because pirates want to kill.

I started knitting a cardigan last winter, I didn't know it was for a boy, maybe I wasn't even pregnant then. My friend was. Then happened a lot of throwing up and deep winter, and the cardigan was forgotten with one sleeve missing. I finished it now. I thought this kind of blue is a bit boring for a boy, but with the buttons and all, it's just the right masculinity. I think so! I also knitted some nappy pants. What we are missing are the small sizes, have to make one more pair. These are sizes 0-3 months and 3-6 months. Very strange choice of colour for me, I'm not so into this kind of natural brownish tone. And this yarn, this yarn I bought when it was only 75% decided we would try to get a second kid. I was a bit embarrassed when I bought it. As if it sealed the decision. (I'm not a good knitter, and I'm slow, but super happy to finish something.)

I had a dream I had made the jacket for V with big pockets again, in a smaller size, but it was just as big as the first one. After the dream I did make it, and it is still quite big... It's a wide model. Buttons missing. Sewn with a very fancy Berliner Seidengarnfabrik thread I got in a Kreuzberg flea-market.

from Milk

I received a new issue of Milk for some reason. A nice surprise! I'm not a big fan of very adult-like styling and posing of kids, but this story I liked. And there are interesting articles to read, my french is resting too much. Oh, and good news to french speaking people: Maja book will be published in french soon!

I finally got Apartamento magazine in my hands too. Danke O!

The happy family just left, a lot of inspiration stayed. See you next time. Who knows when that will be. It's good to be in this place with a friendship, it doesn't require too much maintenance, but we're all there for each other when we do meet.

from E

I did a little favor to her, and she thanked me by sending gifts. A tiniest little shirt. I've decided how to use the elephant fabric!

And the lingonberry season is starting, I don't know if I can still manage to pick them. Picking berries doesn't feel heavy while doing it, but it feels very heavy afterwards.

We're back from our little island trip and our sweet Germans are back from their holiday by the lake Saimaa. Now I have two little girls dressing themselves in scarves and pearls. And apples waiting to become a pie.

from R

I wish there was a link to R. There is no link, but maybe one day there is. She sent us a surprise package a long time ago,. And she's done it before too. And I haven't seen her in at least 5 years. And she found this blog of mine, and recognised me from it, so we are back in touch. That was a long time ago too. I wanted to show you these sweet pouches she made, one for me, one for V. And from R is also my favorite V's dress - not her favorite colours, maybe you can imagine, but she does wear it sometimes. This is the dress I'm gonna have the little boy wear as well, with jeans or something.

My mailbox is enchanted.

We're going to an island today!
