days of being

We're having some free days around the labour day and Y's birthday. I'm planning a non-baked cake, with nuts and dried fruit. Having some new inspiration for eating, a new book from the library.

Although I don't feel so free as I have a lot of things to do for school, we're close to the end of the spring term. Then there are birthdays, V's is quite soon. I'm planning to sew things for her. At least a dress. And a donkey, she wants to have a donkey. A certain character from a book we read recently.

This is Siiri. Our little girl. We had both kittens sterilized and it was quite a nightmare, but now everything's fine again. V made drawings of Siiri with 8 babies.

so, by the way

I never get tired of these blocks. Or the other ones. There are new ones too, still hiding in the closet, waiting for a birthday. Little V made the circles, I made the line.

The rooster appeared here before. I still love him. He's from the childhood home of my mum. I don't want to put him away yet. I don't feel so good about eating eggs, even if they're always organic. I visited an organic farm last summer and seeing the chicken there made me sad.

V's friend stayed over some time ago. These girls, turning 7, are so charming. There will be only 4 girls in their class, and 16 boys!

Planting a little bit.

From the other "by the way" there was this pair of corduroy pants that fit little V this spring. I loved having them on V, they are extremely cool. It's so nice to have the clothes of the older child in front of me again. And they are both painting and drawing so much. I've been trying to organize all that stuff. Writing some kind of dates or months and descriptions (if needed).

I'm in need of lists again, positive lists. I am a human thermometer. Very down when it's cloudy (and snowing still in April) and full of ideas and hope when it's sunny.

good

The easter was so good. We visited friends and friends visited us. Houses and renovations are so interesting. I could live without them though. It is so inspiring and interesting to see how people live and also how people see the way you live. It all makes me feel that life is possible. One of the best moments: the rest of us look from the window how the big sisters go off towards the forest for a little evening picnic. (They came back running as they had started to talk about lynxes while sitting with their sandwiches.)

Today we got new sneakers for her, but these are felt shoes she found at a flea-market.

(Y says my photos are too monotone, just parts of kids, no nature etc.)

a sweater, the sweater

I wanted to write a lot of things under the title "by the way" in the last post, but I couldn't get the text in its normal place, like this, so I didn't write. It was supposed to be nice. But this was not a thing to mention by the way: I finished knitting a sweater! The sweater I started a long time ago with V's chosen colours. But actually it's not so long ago. I can't believe I finished! It's almost size 140 cm! And now it feels like I could do it again. It's thin and soft and she wears it every day, a sweater is still much needed here.

april 1st

(Today was the day of little witches. I'm too tired now to explain the habit we have in Finland, but it looks like this. We had 2 very cute witches who made very beautiful willow branches, decorated with silk paper, feathers etc. I am crazy tired.)
