sakura

We're back home since one week. It's white here as well. With snow. I thought we wouldn't get to see the spring arrive on the new yard! *We do get to see it. The cherry blossoms were 12 days early, the spring in Finland is one month late... The good thing about it is *.

Back home feels very nice. My own house feels pretty good after so many nights at other people's houses. Oh what good people we met on our travels! All this every day stuff that I'm used to is so nice. Rye bread, recycling, organic food in normal supermarkets, clean tap water. The people here.

I miss the good people, miso soup in the morning, spring, dark evenings, the language, hot baths, my Tokyo.

I wasn't going to write all this.

bye

Hei, we're flying away for a while. Until spring actually!
I will miss home, V will miss the cats and school.
But we'll have an adventure! Japan it is, our destination.

(V's bed, S's paws, Renilde's potholder that is now mine via Alessandra, little V outside, N on the street, the same girls as here)

wool

Thank you for letting me know you're there. I appreciate it a lot. I will try to mend my ways too and take the effort to say something once in a while... Having to write all those unreadable pass words is pretty horrible though. I changed my settings a bit.

My V is learning to knit at school. Her hair started to become all tangled when she's playing outside in the snow. She's sick with chicken pox right now. She also made the green thing at school, it's a horse harness. They have a wonderful handicrafts teacher.

Y has bought many new rugs lately, the one in the bottom photo is my ultimate favourite rug. I wish I had my own room and I could have it there.

Today I'm thinking about our dear friends and their newly bought summer house on an island, how to deal with arguing kids without acting like an asshole yourself, Iggy Pop and some other stuff. Trains.

We're gonna move the cloud shelf now, see you!

Every other post has blurred images. And palm trees. Our school cabinets have landed on their new place, minus #14. Somehow I'd like to write about the lack of comments, I read something about that somewhere and about it having to do with instagram. It's funny to think that something that's anyway on the internet, and therefore Fast, has become Slow. So I guess a slow blog is for me. I've tried to have a pinterest account, as well as instagram, but it's too much. I don't need to be everywhere.

Anyway, comments and some kind of interaction with people is so important -- no matter if it all started as something for me and some friends in other countries. Over the years (so many years!!) I've got to know some really great women thanks to blogging. Some I've even met, some I'm sure I will meet one day. It feels stupid to write something so self-conscious here, I'm crossing my lines here. But it does feel a bit boring to make posts, when there are so few responses. Even more stupid, as I hardly ever leave comments myself. Same story again. It's just interesting if it all has to do with all kinds of faster ways to comment. I also often miss the possibility to "like" stuff that I do on facebook. Oh well, I'll still be here, no matter what.

That's sun on the picture.

at home

This is where we are mostly. It's been very cold. Inside the house. We don't have thermometers, maybe that's for the best.

Origami balloons, V makes them.
We got a lot of Yoshitomo Nara stuff in the mail. So cool and nice. V wants to go to his exhibition.
We also got a calendar from a friend in the mail! The fox.
Little V has a little sleeping nest of his own. Everyone's jealous of it, but nobody else fits in there. We still have to paint that bed.
Two baby wolves by V. First I thought they were photocopies.
I'd like to have people in my photos. Look at all that flaky paint!

One month to go before we do something very exciting.

shaving

Here is C shaving and our kids watching. They don't see shaving too much. Here is also our new wallpaper in the "hall". Continuing the dark jungle theme we had by the entrance in Manteli (I can't find a post with the Paradise wallpaper we had).

happy new year!

Hello. Some small pictures from here. Things that are piled and re-piled and all these random collections. Things that were christmas. Today we visited a house that i found very inspiring interior-wise. Me and Y, we will start doing great things here. I love this house. Did I mention that? I love having people here, and we've had people. Hope that never ends. We have booked a trip, I'm laughing and crying.
