last swimming of the year

I think it was. The weather has turned very autumn-like, a bit too quickly. A bit too grey too. Our friends from Weimar are having more holidays in eastern Finland, but last week they were still here. It's a good thing the kids aren't too concerned about language, even at almost 6, 4 and 3. It was so nice to listen to the girls play together, talking about the same things in their own languages.

V started dance-classes. I think she's going to get a new friend there. They live at a bicycling distance and also have a baby born this summer. Yey!

I'm sewing, listening to Devendra, maybe working a bit later. V is having Sunflower's party upstairs with my aunt and my mum is cleaning. I'm loving the quiet of yesterday and today.

a book

A book I've been wanting to own for years. For some reason I still don't. This one is borrowed from Y's work. Now that I have a garden (a garden project) it would make even more sense to have this. Derek Jarman's garden is in a league of it's own though. He can even see a nuclear power station from his yard... He has a lot of poppies among other things. I have a few, but they're not the most beautiful kind of poppies.

a ghost

This was before the stairs.

I still don't know where all the bags, aprons, oven-gloves(?) disappeared. The phone catalogues I found. I like phone catalogues. An artist I like: Janna Syvänoja. But I didn't find any good link to her. The first thing by her I ever saw was jewelry made of phone catalogues. She uses birch bark a lot. Birches are great. I love my daughter. I screamed to her this morning. "A baby is born and the parents fall in love with the baby." That's how it is. It's weird to imagine having so much love for another. 5 more weeks.

more stairs

Never mind the mess in the background... That's how the stairs go, I'm so happy that the fridge is hidden under the stairs now.

The hole in the left of the last photo in the previous post leads to this storage space. A perfect little hide out for little mice (well, until it's filled with a lot of stuff). V with her first ones: All stars, with a flower print. I got them a bit used in one of my favorite Helsinki shops. Now they have pink laces, we were looking for light pink/yellow/blue, but my mum got bright pink ones before we managed.

Today is the night of the arts in Helsinki. We might go, that is peculiar. And I have decided where to give birth, feeling relieved.

the stairs

Very cottage-like atmosphere up there. We will look for a while what to do with all the finishing. The wood looks kinda nice, but I wouldn't want to leave it like that. The stairs too, scrap wood looks nice, but there are too many surfaces of different kind of wood next to each other. It reminds us of the "Public Attic" someone may have seen in Helsinki some years back. What year was it? Is there a link to it?

baby wardrobes 1

This might be on ongoing series here. I never called V a princess when she was a baby, and was a bit bothered when someone did. Now, at 4, I of course do. And even abuse the whole concept of princesses, by saying stuff like "a princess wouldn't do this or that". But my little boy, he is a prince. And he will wear a lot of lace collars. Shirts from flea-market and from summer sale.

Another story: I studied german for one year (a long time ago). My teacher was very stupid and I didn't really like the language, I just thought I'd like to know it. So I quit after that one year. I ended up having many dear German friends. And now they have kids. And I can't talk with them. The smaller one visiting us right now is teaching me things though: "unsere auto", "rot". I answer "ja".

they're going to paint

O home, I like you.
