my hood

celebrating unpretentiousness: on the way to the bakery. on a gray day. to the most delicious spice cake.
now there is snow again! and there is the biggest snowman in front of our house. no photos as i'm in a hurry in the morning and it's dark when i come back home.

my last day at the incense shop. i took photobooth pics of the beautiful cups by Niran Baibulat. i didn't find any good link to her, but she's one favorite. she came by yesterday. i've worked with these cups before at a gallery.

thinking this week: i love Helsinki, but i am happy about the change of life. i don't want to let go of my Helsinki identity, but it's not my home anymore. and the feeling is the same about any city that i have loved. i want to remember everything, i want to know my way around, i want to know everything that's new. not forget the tram routes and where their stops are. this week has helped me to make the distance smaller.

Siellähän se kynttilä on. Ihan sisarukselta näyttää.

Sama "kohtalo" Helsingin suhteen.

"hood", hehe.

it's so beautiful. that little red building in particular looks quite mysterious and magical.

You write beautifully, from the heart and your photos are amazing too. What a lovely post about your new life in the country!
I am at times at odds about living in the country and city too

Look what I just read in the New York Times!: http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/12/14/travel/14Choice.html?hp

A whole article about Finnish food. The middle of the article starts sounding sooo goood.

"The food also speaks to imagination, utility and restraint. Dark brown bread with specks of nuts is served with creamy carrot butter. How did I not know about this beautiful combination? Helsinki is one of those cities from which you return and do things in your daily life a little differently."

It made me think of your blog. :) And it makes me want to visit Helsinki. sigh.

eihän se Helsinki sieltä mihinkään katoa, jos sillä on paikka sun sydämessä ja mielessä. Siellä pysyy, muuttumattomana.
