Last week we went to the town of Lohja. This sounds extremely unexciting, but I checked before we went, and there were many nice sounding cafés AND a vegetarian restaurant (we live far from any lunching out possibilities). We chose the café which was in a building built in 1860's.
My antipathies for the town come mainly from this girl who came to my high school class. She had moved from Lohja (even the name of the town is ugly). She had disgusting bleached yellow hair, her face was all pink and she was dressed in a very middle-age manner. Maybe she was nice... probably not. I never talked to most people in my class that year. Well, now the poor unattractive town has cleared it's face. Some good flea-market finds too. And I wanna check out the summer cafés around there.
(Posting from Helsinki, we saw the most superb kids' theater in the morning, checked out a newish café, and now stay at Y's sister's in our old neighbourhood. Tomorrow meet with my dear Berlin friends!)

Herkullisia kuvia. Minunkin kokemukset Lohjasta ovat yllättävän positiivisia. Joulumarkkinat ovat myös huiput.

eeh, Lohja? olen kerran käynyt sen vanhassa pienessä kivikirkossa. se oli kaunis. vielä alkuperäisiä maalauksia seinissään.
ja nyt olette entisillä kotikulmilla, skattan suunnalla siis..?
Minulla on kans yksi Lohja kokemus lapsuudesta: tylsä viikonloppu ei mitään tekemistä ja väärä c- kasetti matkassa.

aika järjetön aihe tämä Lohja, mutta olin 50mm objektiivin kanssa ja uudet kaupungit, pienetkin, on kivoja. ja luen Arvid Järnefeltin Vanhempieni romaania, asuivat Lohjalla, siellä on Elisabethinkatukin.

i have to (?) add that Lohja is an ugly town, boring too, but it's anyway a Town. and some surprisingly nice places there. i would NEVER advice anybody to go there.

Lohjalla oli hyva viettaa lapsuuden kesat mammun luona! (Mutta se olikin Hakulintie, Perttila, Lohja as. - ennenkuin sinne rakennettiin tuhat uutta taloa)
Ja se oli Karkkilaan verrattuna suurkaupunki: siella oli Tiimari (josta sai samettisia elaintarroja) ja uimahalli.

siitä juuri onkin kyse, että sulle se Lohja yhdistyy Mammuun, mulla siihen kauheaan muijaan lukion ekalla.
aika rumia noi suomen pikkukaupungit vaan on, ei voi mitään...
