hoods and soup

this is for Esti! V was very cooperative when i told her the whole story about taking a picture for this woman in Espanja. she found the country name amusing. must be weird this idea of different countries and languages. i made drawings too, ha. i can't resist photos with V's hands in there.

then i made wonderful soup! V's new favorite, she had 3 plates of it and said we should save some for dad. i decided this will be the moving weekend soup. i always forget about cabbage, even though you can get finnish cabbage all year round. the soup is made of cabbage, carrot, onion, broccoli, mixed peas. i once listened to a radio program where two ladies went on and on about great uses of cabbage. the other one said she always has a cabbage on her medicine shelf. i used cabbage also when i had breast infection.

i found these in a notebook from 2005. they are not hoods but veils. i don't remember where this was coming from, from a movie maybe.

favorite projects

fun while packing: V got her own little kiosk. we'll see how long it will be standing here before i need the box. the table box is full of her books that she packed. so we are having quite fun afternoons and evenings, packing and sorting stuff. she has also been having evening and morning porridges in the kiosk. oh, and she's selling a lot of things there, but mostly wafers.

- do you have underpants too?
- yes.
- are they also white?
- no, they're like this.
- can i get ones like that too? i want a ribbon.

in a split second she got a ribbon, then we went sledging. it happened on one of those 3 snowy days.

this is not our working room

...but i found it somewhere (?), and kept it because it reminds me of the planned feeling of our working room (so called). Y is away since saturday, it feels like ages. but the reports from Manteli are so fabulous that they give me some energy to start working right now. (and not watch Wong Kar-Wai's "2046"...) he has painted the work room walls, and he said it looks great. even though the color turned out to be darker than he planned. i think darker than you would dare to choose sounds so exciting! i love this picture. everything, especially the table, especially the lamp. and the flower.

hair talk

i'm cutting my fringe shorter and shorter every week. i think it makes me look older and younger at the same time. i don't really care about that, but it makes me feel light and positive. and it makes my other hair look longer. i'm a bit excited about having long hair again.

i was at one point writing letters to a boy, and he said that i talk about my hair a lot. i was so embarrassed! i don't consider myself as someone who'd have a fixation on hair, and my head definitely wouldn't let anyone make that mistake either. anyway, since then i'm censoring myself whenever i feel hair talk approaching.

at the same time i'm wanting to cut V's fringe too. she's totally dependent on hairpins, otherwise the hair is in her eyes. everybody tells us always how we look alike, so i don't want to make it even more so by having exact same hairdos. + her face is so pretty without any hanging hair. she doesn't mind the hairpins nowadays.

we took hair pictures when actually it was a plan to take music video inspired pictures. we had the same apples.

Japani

faced with endless amounts of links to japanese goods and shops, i find myself somehow confused. i love Japan, for the language, for the nature and for all the beauty. the beauty that translates itself into innumerable beautiful things. when i'm not in Japan (that's of course most of the time) i try to block all this materia out of my head. i'm a materialist kind of person, but i find it very heavy to constantly want something. there are so many things to want in Japan! traditional things, modern things, books, magazines, paper stuff, porcelain, fabric, more books... and clothes. for which i am, lucky or not, too tall. and it's not only the japanese things. they know how to select also the most wonderful things from other countries. and all the cool records are to be found. and then there are the mundane things that are so beautiful you don't want to throw them away: wrapping papers, paper bags... as much as i find inspiration in just knowing about, or seeing a glimpse of wonderful things, i get also stressed about them. being a mother brings out a new world also, what lovely kids' shoes there are! and little lunch boxes. and books.

this is a lovely book V got from N for her 1st birthday, almost 2 years ago.
i have to concentrate on things we have.
we have a lot of things.
we need a lot of boxes.

Y will be away for the whole next week and i have to start packing.

fabric drawing crayons

testing the new crayons for fabric N brought from Muji. i found out they exist from Kurashi blog, i think. colorful side is to hide some stains, and on the other side mother tiger, little tiger and father tiger. i'm impressed, again.
for the past 2 months i feel like i want to write down and record and video everything V does. here is a sad song:

eye, come here!
he walked walked walked
he noticed a tree
and he thought he wants to go there
suddenly he fell
eye went home sad

bathroom

the bathroom is ready! well, except the toilet is not in use yet. and some details. and well, the hot water boiler is not working yet either... we are so, so happy with it! V is happy to be able to wash her hands by herself, which is not possible in this flat.

the taps for the bathtub are from e-bay, maybe from england, and for the sink from trash. the bathtub is from the recycling center.

we are going to change the sink, as the cute little shell-shaped one is too small for washing a baby's bottom in it, as Y keeps on saying. the one on the floor is an old Arabia sink, that we got -as usual- in building material recycling place in Karkkila. it is the most amazing place where everything is very neatly organized. the cute one was one of the first things we ever bought for the house. it was a huuto.net find, 10 euros. what could we use it for?

there is a separate shower in the left corner behind a glass shower wall.
